Witch house is a microgenre of underground electronic music that emerged in the late 2000s — characterized by slowed tempos, heavily processed vocals, occult-influenced aesthetics, and a collision of hip-hop, shoegaze, and industrial textures. When, where and why did MAN1K start making music?

The project started in Ukraine in 2023. Witch house offered a sonic space that felt like the only honest one: sufficiently dark, sufficiently strange, sufficiently its own thing. It wasn't a calculated genre choice — the sound came first, the name for it came later.

Why are releases so infrequent?

Each release has to earn its place. The process is slow by design — writing, stripping back, rebuilding from scratch, mixing until nothing else can be removed. Output without purpose isn't output. When something is ready, it ships.

Does MAN1K use AI in their work?

AI tools are used strictly for technical tasks and routine production management — nothing creative. In composition, sound design, arrangement, mixing, and mastering, the work is entirely human.
